The fault lines between systems and souls

I am an Australian author with a PhD in healthcare titled Seeing More Than We Could See Before, a study of the lived experience of interprofessional practice. My research explores pain, grief, and the ethics of transformation when people work together across boundaries in complex care environments.

This work of fiction is interested in the fault lines between systems and souls: where language shapes action, where institutions fail under pressure, and where people must decide what truth requires when no explanation is clean. By exploring these connections through story, I was able to inhabit how such transformations feel in the body and now intend to carry that awakening into further work that cultivates supportive ecosystems.

How the novel began

In dialogue with John Vervaeke

I met John in 2022 following an email exchange and we began to trace the overlap between my PhD work and his research on relevance realisation and the contemporary meaning crisis. Seeing More Than We Could See Before grew from that dialogue, asking what happens when ideas meant to awaken people to reality are received inside pain, loneliness, spiritual longing, and grief.

I am deeply grateful to John for allowing me to put his work on trial in this imaginative space. His openness and grace in being the subject under pressure were immeasurable.
